WidSets – RSS for your mobile

On a strange day (06/06/06), www.widsets.com was released. I’ve been working on this service for the past five months, and I’m very excited that we finally moved from internal testing to a world-wide release. After five months of hard work its great to get some real user comments.
WidSets is basically widgets for your mobile phone, in a Web2.0 manner. It’s a clever service that lets you configure a set of widgets on the web, then automatically transfer them to your mobile phone. Currently most of the widgets are RSS-based, so you can enjoy the most important news and blogs on the road.
Go try it out and tell me what you think!

WidSets project really had caught my attention, first of all, because I am interested in any innovation in mobile, second because of a nice looking promo web-site.
My current question is – what make WidSets different from mobile RSS aggregator? This is not yet clear to me.
Well, currently WidSets is a RSS aggregator. The difference is in the way we’ve built the service. A widget is essentially a layout file, some code to display content and a server service that the widget uses. Now, RSS is only the beginning, be sure to check back once in a while. Eventually widgets will break out of the RSS world and become more like Apple widgets as we implement more services on the server-side and open the spec for custom widget development.
..Someone showed me this the other day, didn’t know you guys were behind this. A rather interesting piece of work, congrats!
