Hahaah! Google hijacks IE
This is a new one, but it totally makes sense. Google just released Chrome Frame, a plugin for IE (6 and up) that essentially lets users hijack IE and replace it’s sluggish, HTML5-lacking rendering engine with Chrome’s rendering engine. You’re still using IE’s shell, but everything is rendered using Chrome. JavaScript performance is tenfold and HTML5 stuff works beautifully.
Now even corporations who have policies against switching from IE can maybe think about upgrading to a modern browser.
I just wonder what the User-Agent is send with each HTTP-request send from this hijacked browser…

Chrome Frame extends the user agent header with “chromeframe”.
Cool idea, although installing browser plugins could still require some co-operation from the corporate IT-department.
It’s also interesting to see if other browser vendors want to join this project or create their own plugins.
